Middle School Athletics

At Desert Christian Academy, our middle school students have the opportunity to participate in athletics throughout the school year. Most of our athletic teams compete in the Coachella Valley Middle School Sports League – Private School Division. This league is comprised of 9 parochial and private schools including: Desert Christian Academy, Desert Chapel, Desert Adventist Academy, Kings School, Palm Valley, OLPH, Sacred Heart, St. Margaret’s and St. Theresa’s.

All middle school students (6th, 7th and 8th grade) are encouraged to participate in athletics. However, in order to participate, students must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher. We strive to teach students to be responsible and organized student athletes, giving first priority to their academic studies.

Athletic teams practice and compete after school, between 2 to 3 days each week. At the beginning of every season, tryouts are held for each sport. Those athletes who are selected are placed on teams that will help to cultivate the skills and talents. Desert Christian Academy typically fields 2 to 3 teams per season, depending on the number of participants for each sport.

Our middle school athletics program has represented our school well in all sports, fielding winning teams both in the regular season and in tournaments. Our girls’ volleyball “A” teams won the league championship four out of the past five years. Our boys’ basketball “A” team won the league championship for three out of the past four years. Also, our co-ed soccer team won the championship last year.

We believe that our middle school athletics program excels in training and preparing students for athletic competition, while guiding them in sportsmanship and Christian testimony as well. By the time they enter high school, students are highly accomplished and well trained student athletes.
